Yo. Today is April 21st and today in Geek History...

1972 Apollo 16 successfully lands on the moon. They touch down in the Descartes Highlands.

1976 Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter, season 1 premiers with the episode "Wonder Woman Meets The Baroness Paula Von Gunther." Holy cow.

1978 Alessandro Juliani of Battlestar Galactica is born in Canada. He plays Felix Gaeta.

1986 Geraldo Rivera opened a vault in Chicago that belonged to Al Capone. It was empty.

1989 Nintendo releases the GameBoy handheld gaming system in Japan. Do you remember those systems? I do.

1997 Gene Roddenberry's ashes are shot into space. He was aboard the Pegasus XL rocket. How cool is that??

1959 Luna 1 is launched by the USSR and becomes the first satellite to orbit the moon.

1961 Gabrielle Carteris, better known as Andrea Zuckerman from 90210 is born in Scottsdale Arizona.

Howdy out there in blog land. Did you have a happy Christmas vacation? I don't think mine was quite good enough. I'm pretty sure the Grinch snuck into my house the other day and stole my voice too. If you find it, let me know. I'd really like to have it back.

1922 Hosho is commissioned, becoming the first purpose-built aircraft carrier in the world.

1968 Apollo 8 splashes down in the Pacific, ending the first manned mission to orbit the moon.

1639 An English astronomer and clergyman Jeremiah Horrocks becomes the first to observe the transit of Venus.

1959 Charles Darwin, a British naturalist publishes "The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection." The theory of evolution hasn't escaped us since.

191 The Wright brothers form a million-dollar corporation to commercially manufacture airplanes.

1959 The first episode of The Twilight Zone, "The Time Element" first airs on CBS.

1969 The Apollo 12 spacecraft splashes down thus ending the second manned mission to the moon.

1998 Mystery Science Theater 3000 debuts and crappy movies now become cool.
